えいごがわかりますか？

So I have been here a week now. The plane ride was terrible. I will never fly Nova travel again, well at least not if it is Northwest airlines. I felt like the plane was going to fall apart at any moment. I have a tiny little apartment I share with two other women, who are awesome. My tiny little room has no windows and the bed is a futon, which I am not really used too. Sleeping on the floor has always been hard for me. I have no microwave (omg how will I cook) or an oven. I do have a fish baking/perhaps broiling (no idea) pan underneath my stove top, which is about hip height. I have a small balcony with which to hang up clothes to dry and a tv which gets basic stations in Japanese, which is fun to interpret. I am not sure if I like my apartment yet, and when I get the money I think I may try and move. Since I have to basically give up my life savings to rent another apartment though....I don't know. My internet right now consists of me sitting in the living room/kitchen trying to pick up a signal from someone downstairs.....until we get our own sometime in the following weeks. I am also having trouble eating the food as it tends to make me feel ill a few hours later and my sleep schedule is completely messed up as I am writing this at 2 in the morning when I have work at 10.
Enough about my complaints though.
I am enjoying exploring downtown Osaka. It is a bit overwhelming as I do not speak the language, but it is fun to walk around and start to learn where everything is. Right now it is very,very warm and humid, so daytime walking is limited. As it gets cooler I believe I will explore more as I love cooler weather.
I had my first day of work today which was only orientation. According to all my roommates, if you think you are getting screwed over by Nova, you probably are. Still, I shall see how it goes as I start my training tomorrow. At least I can walk to work, and I plan on buying a bicycle as soon as my funds reach high enough (which means not eating).
I have tried various foods. Takoyaki (octopus balls) is quite good in various places (like Karaoke bars). I have a love for the Karaoke bars. Also this bar called Zuma. We visited it last night and it had live music, a girl band called Bubblegum, though it was not a pop band as the name might suggest. They were actually very good and I am going to see if I can find out more about them. The plum wine was also delicious.
I am slowing dredging up the little Japanese that I know and it is getting easier as I am hearing it all the time. My theories on learning (ok most people have this idea too) were correct that immersion is the best way to learn a language. As I learn the language I hope to find more about how people learn language.
